Additional information

Struck at Ephesus in 70 AD, the first year of Vespasian's reign, this issue belongs to a brief provincial silver coinage produced while the new Flavian regime was still consolidating power after the catastrophic civil war of 69 — the Year of the Four Emperors. The Ephesian mint, operating under the authority of the conventus, was among the few eastern facilities producing silver at this moment, filling a gap left by the disruption to imperial supply chains.

RPC II 839 records this type with relatively modest survival numbers. The 3.17g weight places it squarely within the lighter end of the documented range for this issue.
