Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Zenobia facing right, crowned with a stephane and set upon a crescent, rendered in the provincial Roman style characteristic of Palmyrene coinage. The hair is elaborately waved and gathered, framing a regal profile with pronounced facial features. The bust is draped in imperial fashion, with visible drapery folds across the shoulder. The circumferential Latin legend S ZЄNOBIA AVG encircles the effigy, proclaiming her status as Augusta. The overall die style reflects the Eastern workshop tradition of Antioch or Palmyra.
