| Obverse description | Radiate, helmeted, and cuirassed bust of the emperor Maximianus facing right, depicted in a martial effigy befitting his role as co-Augustus. The radiate crown surmounts the crested helmet, while the cuirass with shoulder straps and paludamentum are rendered in fine relief. The encircling Latin legend runs along the beaded border of the flan. The portrait conveys the vigorous, military character characteristic of Tetrarchic die-engraving. |
