| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right, portrayed with short beard and naturalistic features characteristic of the Tetrarchic period. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, identifies the denomination as an antoninianus. The emperor is shown wearing a paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the shoulder and scale armor visible on the cuirass. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, disposed clockwise around the bust within a beaded border. |
