| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right, wearing the distinctive radiate crown of the antoninianus denomination. The emperor is depicted with a short beard, rendered in the late Roman military style. The bust is shown from the right shoulder, with drapery visible over the cuirass. A beaded border encircles the design. The obverse legend IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. |

| Reverse description | The reverse of this example is heavily obscured by dense malachite and azurite encrustation covering much of the central field, rendering the principal type largely indiscernible. Based on the catalogue reference (RIC V.2, 77C), the reverse type depicts the personification of Providentia standing, typically holding a baton over a globe and a sceptre or cornucopiae. The legend PROVIDENTIA AVGG is partially visible around the upper periphery, with the officina letter C appearing in the field. A beaded border frames the design. |
