| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right, portrayed in the standard imperial antoninianus convention. The effigy displays a bearded portrait with the characteristic radiate crown of the antoninianus denomination. The legend encircles the bust within a beaded border, reading IMP C DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG. This is a coin struck in the name of Diocletian by the usurper Carausius at the Londinium mint, reflecting Carausius's attempt to project legitimacy by associating himself with the ruling emperors of the wider Roman world. |
