| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Carausius facing right, the radiate crown rendered with clearly defined spikes characteristic of the antoninianus denomination. The effigy presents the emperor in military cuirass with drapery visible at the left shoulder, executed in the relatively coarse provincial style typical of the Londinium mint under Carausius. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the bust within a beaded border. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. |
