Obverse description A plain cross pattée with slightly flared arms extends to the periphery, dividing the field into four quadrants. Uncial letters of the partial legend ARChEPI (abbreviation of ARCHIEPISCOPUS) are distributed between the arms of the cross. The flan is small, thin, and irregularly shaped, characteristic of hammered medieval billon coinage. The surfaces display typical medieval die-cutting in a crude but functional style consistent with late 13th- to early 14th-century provincial ecclesiastical issues.
