Obverse description Central field bearing the arms of Lucerne — an oval shield divided per pale, the dexter half horizontally striped and the sinister half plain — set within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrollwork and acanthus-leaf flourishes. A sprig of olive or laurel branches to the right of the shield, with further foliate ornament to the left. The entire design is enclosed within a bold dentilated border. No legend or inscription appears on this face. The execution is characteristic of late 18th-century Swiss municipal coinage, with high relief on the shield device.
