Obverse description Coat of arms of Lucerne displayed on a Gothic-style pointed shield, divided per pale: the dexter half bearing a hatched (patterned) field representing the blue-and-white municipal tinctures, and the sinister half left plain. The shield is rendered in the late medieval Gothic heraldic tradition characteristic of Swiss cantonal coinage of the early seventeenth century. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
