Reverse description The Archangel Michael is depicted full-length, wearing armour and a halo, with wings extended, standing triumphant as he slays a dragon or serpent prostrate in the lower right of the field. The figure wields a spear or sword directed downward toward the vanquished beast. The design is enclosed within a pearled inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters reads SANCTVS MICHAEL ARCHANGEL, invoking the patron saint whose image gives the Angel coinage type its name. The reverse follows the established Angelot iconographic tradition common to the Low Countries feudal coinages of the sixteenth century.
