| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II rendered in fine calligraphic relief, its characteristic loops and pennants clearly defined. Four stylized tulip blossoms are positioned symmetrically around the tughra — two in the upper field and two in the lower field — a decorative motif emblematic of Ottoman coinage of this period. The design is framed by a beaded inner border, beyond which an outer band of flowing foliate and arabesques ornaments encircles the coin to the milled edge. |
