Obverse description Central field bears the elaborate tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I, the imperial calligraphic monogram rendered in fine relief with characteristic looping strokes and upward extensions. A floral ornament (gül) appears to the right of the tughra, a standard decorative element of the Tanzimat-era coinage. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The tughra dominates the flan, executed in the refined Ottoman calligraphic tradition typical of mid-19th century imperial issues. Note: weight varies from 2.60 to 3.00 grams across recorded specimens.
