Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I, rendered in fine calligraphic relief with characteristic sweeping loops and vertical strokes. A small floral ornament or rosette device appears to the upper right of the tughra. The design occupies most of the flan within a plain raised border, consistent with early Tanzimat-era Ottoman coinage style.
