| Obverse lettering | سلطان سليم بن سليمان خان (Translation: Sultan Selim Ibn Suleyman Han : [The] Sultan Selim [II], Son of Suleiman [I], Han.) |
| Reverse description | Within a plain circular border, the reverse field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription in thuluth calligraphy recording the pious invocation, the mint name, and the regnal year. The legend identifies the place of striking as Constantinople (Kostantiniye) and gives the Hijri year 974. The inscription occupies the full flan in the customary Ottoman akçe format, with no additional devices or ornaments. As with the obverse, the hammered technique results in a slightly irregular outline and variable depth of strike across the surface. |
