| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the tughra-style calligraphic rendering of the sultan's name 'Murad' in Arabic script, executed in the fluid, stylized hand characteristic of Ottoman hammered coinage. The inscription is enclosed within a circular border, with additional marginal Arabic lettering framing the design. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hand-struck akçe coinage of the period. The surface shows the bold relief of die-struck Arabic calligraphy against a flat field. |
