Obverse description Central field bearing the royal tughra-style Arabic legend of Sultan Mehmed II (Muhammad b. Murad Khan), arranged in multiple lines across the flan. The inscription, struck in relief on an unadorned field, reads the sultan's name and titles in bold, somewhat angular Naskh script. The irregular flan edge, characteristic of hammered Ottoman akçe coinage, is visible around the periphery. The die is well-centered though the strike shows slight weakness toward the margins, typical of this series.
