Additional information

Mengli I Giray's thirty-year grip on the Crimean Khanate was anything but stable — he was deposed twice by rival factions before finally consolidating power under Ottoman suzerainty after 1478. The Qirq-Yer mint, located at the ancient cliff-fortress that would later be known as Çufut Qale, served as one of the Khanate's earliest established minting sites, predating the shift toward Bakhchysaray as the administrative center.

The broad date range assigned to this type reflects genuine difficulty in attributing these small silver pieces to specific years within the reign.
