Islam Giray II ruled the Crimean Khanate for only a matter of months in 1584 before being deposed — his brief tenure the result of Ottoman interference in Girayan succession politics that characterized much of the sixteenth century. The Porte regularly installed and removed khans to keep Crimea compliant, making reigns short enough that surviving coinage from any single ruler can be genuinely scarce.
The Qrim mint, operating in the old capital Eski Qırım, produced akçes at the lower weight range typical of late sixteenth-century Crimean issues, reflecting the broader debasement pressure affecting Ottoman-sphere silver coinage during this decade.
