Reverse description The cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus depicted frontally, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical headdress) and the traditional support brackets at her sides, standing upon a biga drawn by two galloping deer moving to the right. In the left hand of the statue, a small figure of Tyche is shown standing, facing left, wearing a kalathos and holding a cornucopia and rudder. The composition reflects the widespread veneration of the Ephesian Artemis throughout the conventus of Pergamum, rendered with characteristic provincial die-cutting artistry. The reverse legend naming the local strategos frames the design in the field.
