Reverse description To the left, Hephaestus, the divine craftsman, is seated upon a cippus and shown in right-facing profile, actively working with a hammer upon a helmet held in tongs over a column or anvil; to the right, Athena stands facing left, extending her arm to support the helmet and resting her other arm upon a large round shield at her side. The composition vividly references the mythological collaboration between the two deities and alludes to Thyatira's renowned craft and metalworking traditions. The reverse legend in Greek, disposed around the field, records the name of the strategos Moschianus and the ethnic of the Thyatirenians.
