| Reverse description | Dionysus, the god of wine, is depicted seated and facing right in a biga drawn by two panthers, conveying divine triumphant motion. In the background, three satyrs attend the scene: one holds a tympanum, one leads the biga, and a third figure participates in the thiasic procession. The composition, rendered in the elaborate baroque style characteristic of large Anatolian provincial bronzes, fills the flan with dynamic movement and mythological detail. The surrounding Greek legend attributes the issue to the asiarch Lucius Aelius Pigres in his third term of office, under the neocorate status of Laodicea. |
