Reverse description Septimius Severus, clad in full military dress, stands facing left, holding a patera in his outstretched right hand and a parazonium (short sword) in his left. Nike (Victory), standing left and holding a branch, crowns the emperor from behind. The composition conveys imperial martial triumph and divine favour, a common type for provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. The encircling legend names the local strategos responsible for the issue and identifies the civic authority of Mytilene.
