| Additional information |
Elaea was a minor Aeolian coastal city whose civic coinage depended entirely on the goodwill of the Pergamene conventus administration. The magistrate name recorded here — Aurelius Zosimos Androneikos — follows the double nomenclature pattern common to provincial notables who held Roman citizenship under the Constitutio Antoniniana of 212. The retrograde Ζ in the die is an engraver's error, uncorrected and struck into circulation, which makes this variety distinguishable from otherwise identical dies in the series.
