Reverse description A sacrificial scene depicting a victimarius standing left, raising a mallet to strike a humped bull (bucranium type) standing right, about to be sacrificed. Above the scene, a statue of Septimius Severus stands left atop a rectangular base, holding a patera in his right hand and a sceptre in his left, referencing the imperial cult. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the name of the local strategos and the city's twice-neocorate status. The composition exemplifies the elaborate civic-pride iconography characteristic of large Pergamene bronze issues of the Severan period.
