| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, seen from the rear, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of Asia Minor, with careful attention to the folds of the military dress. A beaded border frames the periphery of the flan. The obverse legend runs clockwise around the bust within the border. |

The homonoia (concord) coinage struck jointly between Pergamum and Nicomedia represents a calculated piece of civic diplomacy — two cities in separate conventus zones publicly performing unity, almost certainly to compete for imperial favor and the prestige of neokoria titles during Gordian III's reign. The magistrate named in the legend, Julius Logismos, is documented across a handful of Pergamene issues from this period, giving specialists a useful anchor for relative dating within the series.
Coins of this alliance type were expensive civic productions, struck at exceptional module precisely to project ambition. The reference VII.1#173.1 places this among the rarer die pairings in the Pergamum homonoia group.
