| Reverse description | Apollo-Tyrimnaios, the principal deity of Thyatira, standing left in the central field, holding a leafy branch in his extended right hand and a double axe (labrys) in his left. He is flanked on either side by laureate standing figures of Macrinus and Diadumenianus, each bearing a spear. The composition reflects the dynastic propaganda of the joint reign and the city's devotion to its tutelary god. The reverse legend names the local strategos of equestrian rank responsible for the coin issue. |

| Additional information |
Macrinus ruled for just fourteen months before being defeated by the forces of Elagabalus at the Battle of Antioch in June 218 and subsequently executed. Provincial bronze of this size from his reign is genuinely scarce by any measure — the brevity of his rule left little time for the extended minting cycles that produced the large civic series under longer-reigning emperors. The strategós named in the obverse legend, M. Aurelius Diadochos Hippikos, is known from only a handful of Thyatiran issues, all dateable to this narrow window.
