| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Lydian mint of Tralles. The emperor's portrait displays his characteristic forked beard and strong facial features. The Greek legend is disposed around the field, naming the emperor in the nominative case. The flan is broad and irregularly shaped, consistent with large-module provincial bronzes of the Severan period. |
