| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from behind, rendering the paludamentum and muscled cuirass in considerable detail. The imperial effigy is boldly modelled in high relief, characteristic of the provincial coinage of Lydia. The surrounding field carries the Greek imperial titulature legend. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, as typical of large Æ civic issues from the Conventus of Ephesus. |
