Reverse description Standing nude figure of Kelainos, the eponymous hero of Kelainai, depicted facing with head turned to the left, wearing buskins (high hunting boots) and a chlamys draped over one arm. He holds a short spear in one hand and pours a libation from a patera onto a rock at his feet, a scene evoking heroic sacrifice and local mythological tradition. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, names the presiding magistrate and civic authority under whose auspices the coin was struck.
