Obverse description Draped and cuirassed laureate bust of Emperor Commodus, depicted with a long beard, facing right and seen from the rear, wearing the paludamentum over his cuirass. The portrait reflects the late Commodan style with pronounced beard growth characteristic of issues dating to 184–187 AD. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his titulature.

Reverse description Standing figure of Hephaestus, the divine smith, turned to the right, holding a hammer in one hand and a long torch in the other. The reverse legend names the civic magistrate and the city in Greek, encircling the design.
