Reverse description Two deities stand facing one another on either side of a central altar, both extending a patera over it in a joint libation scene. To the left, nude Poseidon stands with his right foot resting on a dolphin, holding a downward-pointing trident in his left hand — the civic deity closely associated with Phocaea's maritime identity. To the right, Athena stands left, helmeted and draped, her arm resting on a large round shield at her side. The reverse legend naming the strategos Hermagoras runs around the field, attributing the issue to his civic magistracy.
