| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the muscled cuirass visible beneath. The emperor's youthful features are framed by curling hair beneath a laurel wreath, rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Lydian coinage under the Severan dynasty. The circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field, divided on either side of the portrait. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of Hypaepan civic bronze issues of this period. |
