The horse is rendered in a vigorous, naturalistic stance with clearly defined musculature. The local cult epithet Tyrimnaios reflects the syncretic Anatolian religious tradition of Lydia. A Greek civic legend naming the strategos and the city of the Thyatirans surrounds the type in the field and along the periphery. |
