Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, with finely rendered beard and short curly hair beneath a prominent laurel wreath. The emperor's bust is bare or lightly draped at the truncation. The Greek imperial legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic Antonine style of Alexandrian coinage, with bold, high-relief modelling. The initial letter M is visible below the bust truncation.
