Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing left, seen from the rear, with long beard rendered in short curls characteristic of his mature portraiture. The emperor wears a military cuirass and paludamentum (general's cloak) fastened at the shoulder. The obverse legend is disposed around the field in Greek characters identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature.
