| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Antinous facing left, rendered with the characteristic idealized youthful features and abundant wavy hair falling in thick locks behind the neck, as typical of Hadrianic-period portraits of the deified favorite. The bust is truncated at the shoulder and unadorned. A partial Greek legend appears to the left in the field. The portrait displays the fine sculptural quality associated with posthumous honorific issues struck in Bithynia following Antinous's deification in 130 AD. |
