Reverse description The xoanon-style cult statue of Artemis Ephesia stands facing, depicted in the characteristic rigid frontal pose with arms extended, adorned with multiple rows of breast-like pendants and flanked by two stags at her sides. On either side of the central cult image stands a figure of Nemesis of Smyrna, completing the homonoia composition that symbolises the concord between the cities of Philadelphia and Smyrna. The multi-line Greek legend is distributed around and through the field, referencing the neocorate status of both cities and the presiding magistrate.
