Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from behind in three-quarter rear view, a presentation typical of the later Severan and Gordian-era provincial coinage of Pontus. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, denotes imperial solar symbolism. The paludamentum (military cloak) is visible over the cuirass, conveying the emperor's role as commander. The encircling Greek legend in the field reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΝΤω ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles and name.
