| Obverse lettering | Α Κ Γ Ο ΤΡ ΓΑΛΛΟϹ Ϲ (Translation: Emperor Caesar Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus Augustus) |
| Reverse description | Nude Heracles standing to the right, his left arm draped with a lion skin, grasping a club in his right hand while seizing the mane of a lion seated to the right with its fore-paw raised; Heracles plants his left knee firmly upon the lion's back in a commanding pose of dominance. The composition alludes to the hero's first Labour and reflects the Hellenistic mythological tradition favoured in the civic coinage of Blaundus. The reverse legend, divided across the field, names the city and the eponymous first archon Aurelius Papias who authorised the issue. |
