| Obverse description | Laureate bust of the emperor Trajan facing right, shown nude with an aegis draped over the left shoulder, rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style characteristic of Egyptian bronze coinage. The portrait displays the characteristic close-cropped hair and strong facial features associated with Trajanic portraiture. The surrounding legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The flan is broad and irregular, typical of large-module Egyptian provincial bronze issues of the early second century AD. |
