| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Severus Alexander facing right, depicted from a rear three-quarter perspective, a standard convention in provincial coinage of the Severan period. The effigy exhibits the characteristic military presentation of the emperor, combining the civic laureate wreath with the paludamentum and cuirass. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. |

| Reverse description | Front elevation of a tetrastyle temple with four columns and an arcuated (arched) lintel, rendered in the characteristic style of Greek Imperial neocorate coinage. Within the intercolumniation stands a cult statue of the Emperor, depicted facing right, holding a transverse sceptre in one hand and a globe in the other, emblematic of imperial power. The temple representation alludes to Philadelphia's status as a neocorate city, honoured with the right to maintain an imperial cult temple. The reverse legend, distributed around the temple façade, records the name of the presiding first archon and the civic epithet of the Philadelphian community. |
