| Reverse description | Cybele, the Phrygian mother goddess and principal deity of Magnesia ad Sipylum, is depicted enthroned and seated to the left in a stately, hieratic pose. In her right hand she holds a patera, and in her left a long sceptre, while her arm rests upon a tympanum placed to her side. At her feet reclines a lion, her sacred animal, rendered in low relief. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the name of the local strategos Kleitianos in his second term of office, together with the civic ethnic of the Magnesians of Sipylos. |
