Obverse description Youthful draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus as Caesar, laureate, facing right and seen from the front, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The obverse legend, identifying the co-emperor as Caesar, encircles the effigy. The portrait exhibits the characteristic early rendering of the young Commodus prior to his sole reign, with fine engraving typical of the Pergamene conventus workshop.
