| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, presented three-quarter from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy displays the emperor in full military dress, the cuirass rendered in detail consistent with provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust in the field, reading from upper left around the periphery. The portrait retains the characteristically bearded visage of Macrinus as known from other Ephesian issues of his brief reign. |
