Reverse description Tyche, the city goddess, is enthroned and seated left, holding a patera in her extended right hand and a cornucopia in her left, symbolising divine favour and abundance bestowed upon Heraclea Pontica. At her feet to the left, the personification of the Pontus Euxinus (Black Sea) is depicted as a youthful male figure seated right, holding an anchor that alludes to the maritime importance of the city. To the right, the river god Lykos reclines left, leaning upon a water urn from which waters flow, and holding a staff or reed. The retrograde reverse legend ΗΡΑΚΛΗΑϹ ΜΑΤΡΟϹ ΑΠΟΙΚΩΝ ΠΟΛΙΩΝ encircles the scene, proclaiming Heraclea as 'mother of colony cities.'
