Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Gordian III facing right, seen from the front, draped over the left shoulder, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head) depicted on the cuirass. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style typical of Carian civic bronzes of the mid-third century AD. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The die work displays the characteristic bold relief of Alabandan conventus coinage.
