| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, seen from the rear, with the radiate crown clearly rendered above the imperial effigy. The paludamentum is visible over the cuirass, conveying military authority. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features associated with Gordian III's coinage from the eastern provincial mints, rendered in the provincial style typical of Aphrodisias. |
