| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed from behind with the radiate crown's points clearly visible, the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the cuirass rendered with detailed musculature. The imperial effigy is presented in the characteristic three-quarter rear view favored by certain Asiatic provincial mints of the period. The encircling Greek legend is distributed around the periphery of the field, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. |
