Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view. The emperor's effigy displays elaborate paludamentum over cuirass, with curly hair beneath the laurel wreath rendered in provincial style. The Greek imperial titulature encircles the bust within the coin's field, running along the periphery. The portrait conveys the robust, youthful features typical of Caracalla's early reign iconography as adopted by the Samian mint.
